Snowflake Summit 2022 Recap

SDG News

The Data & Analytics space is ever-changing. Snowflake Summit 2022 provided ample proof that companies from all across industries are implementing innovative approaches and utilizing new capabilities to deliver previously unattainable results in terms of speed, accuracy, and augmented insights, providing business value and momentum.

SDG Group was proud to sponsor Snowflake’s “World of Data Collaboration,” which had over 12,000 attendees, more than 200 partners, and over 250 sessions, many of which were customer-driven.  We kicked off Summit 2022 with companies like Jet Blue, Anthem Healthcare, AT&T, Novartis, Roche Diagnostics, Door Dash, Goldman Sachs, Geico, and others talking about how they are revolutionizing their data architectures with Snowflake.

Snowflake CEO Frank Slootman and other Snowflake leaders outlined enhancements and new features, including some of the following:

  • Bringing Python to the forefront with the release of Snowpark for Python, and native integration with Streamlit for rapid application development and iteration
  • Streamlining data pipelines with Snowpipe and Materialized Tables
  • Large memory instances for ML workloads enable the training of models inside Snowflake
  • Fully functional Iceberg tables backed in external volumes (cloud’s object store or even on-prem)
  • Adding additional Data Marketplace monetization capabilities.

Each session provided attendees with excellent content to learn how applying different strategies with Snowflake can impact their data-driven journeys.

SDG Group also presented with companies like Novartis, where we detailed a designed approach focused on DataOps enablement and how they built a best-of-breed data architecture with Matillion, Snowflake, and Dataiku. Alongside Colgate, we showed how we are currently building a global modern data platform to support advanced analytics.  Several other companies also presented, such as Warner Brothers, discussed the impacts of deploying Data Mesh practices (a trend found in our Data & Analytics Trends for 2022) or IQVIA, which reviewed how they enable their client ecosystem through a Data as a Service (DaaS) platform using Snowflake’s Data Sharing capabilities and several others outlined how they are monetizing their data with the Snowflake Data Cloud.

“Snowflake’s latest innovations have provided our clients and us the tools we need to optimize data platforms better, and we see its value every day,” said Chris Ferrara, SDG Group Partner. “We look forward to continuing this partnership and employing Snowflakes technology for our clients’ Data & Analytics Needs.”
